How can you minimize your taxes?

Making the same investment mistakes over and over?

What keeps you up at night?

Having trouble deciding when to buy or sell investments?

Why is asset allocation so critical?

Is your asset mix right for you?

Unsure about your rate of return?

Do you know where your money goes?

Will your estate be devastated by taxes?

Having trouble setting goals?

When are you happiest?

Do you have a strategy?

Are you invested for retirement?

Are you missing the big picture?

Are your emotions affecting your investment decisions?

Worried you’ll outlive your money?

Which of your current responsibilities would you like to give up?

How much risk should you take?

Have your investment goals changed over time?

How do you get a fair settlement?

Going through a difficult transition in your life?

What have you always wanted to do?

Are you ready for retirement?

What does retirement mean to you?

How much is enough?

How would you define “risk?”

Are you fearful of making an expensive mistake on your taxes?

Do losses keep you awake at night?

Do you have a fear of being audited?

Do you have to give up your pension?

Will your family be OK?

Are you prepared for disaster?

Tempted to make investments that aren’t part of your “plan?”

What do you value most in life?

If you had more money what would you do?

Are your documents in order?

Should you keep the house?

What would you do if you had more free time?

When is the best time to sell an investment?

Beyond the Supercommittee

by the Schwab Center for Financial Research
After months of negotiations, the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (the “supercommittee”) announced that it could not reach agreement, stating: “we have come to the conclusion today that it will not be possible to make any bipartisan agreement available to the public before the committee’s deadline.” The supercommittee had a deadline of November 23 to make recommendations to trim at least $1.2 trillion from the budget deficit, but the law required that the supercommittee post publicly any recommendations at least 48 hours before the deadline, or on Monday, November 21.
